Get to Know Me
My path to hospitality and teaching has been anything but traditional. I began with a degree in Ancient Languages and Cultures in Istanbul, then spent nearly 20 years working in hotels, restaurants, and my own businesses. Those years taught me how to lead teams, run operations, and create meaningful experiences for guests, lessons that now guide how I teach and mentor students.
I joined Framingham State University to help build a hospitality program that combines real-world experience with academic learning. Growing up surrounded by multiple languages and cultures has taught me to see the world from many perspectives, a mindset that shapes how I connect with students, colleagues, and guests alike.
My advice to students is simple: stay curious, keep learning, and embrace every opportunity to grow.

Exploring Hospitality and Tourism
A Comprehensive Guide to the Global Industry
My goal for this textbook is to introduce students to the unique hospitality mindset, a service-oriented approach that goes beyond basic duties to create memorable and meaningful experiences for guests.
I explore the deep connection between learning and travel, showing how both can shape us in profound ways. Traveling exposes us to new perspectives and cultures while helping us grow personally. Along the way, we learn to adapt, solve problems, and understand people from different backgrounds. Together, travel and learning teach lessons that extend far beyond the classroom, leaving a lasting impact on who we are.
